Charging & Battery

Q: What type of battery does the lamp use?

A: The Nova LED Lamp uses a rechargeable Lithium-ion 18650 battery with a 5200mAh capacity, rated for roughly 300 charge cycles (about 1 year of typical use).

Q: How long does it take to fully charge, and how long does that charge last?

A: A full charge takes about 3.5 hours and will power the lamp for up to 2 hours of continuous, non-stop use.

Q: What charger should I use?

A: Only use the included 12.6V / 2A charger adapter. Using any other power supply can damage the device and is not covered under warranty.

Q: Should I leave the lamp plugged in after it's fully charged?

A: No — unplug the Nova LED Lamp from the adapter and outlet once it's fully charged. Leaving it plugged in can lead to overcharging and shortens battery life over time.

Troubleshooting

Q: My lamp won't turn on. What should I check first?

  • Confirm the unit is fully charged — plug it in and allow up to 3.5 hours
  • Check the LED display for a battery-life reading
  • Make sure you are using the original 12.6V/2A charger adapter
  • Try a factory reset: hold 60s + 90s together for 5 seconds
  • Try a different wall outlet to rule out an outlet issue

Q: Liquid got into the lamp — what should I do?

A: Unplug the unit immediately and do not attempt to use it. Liquids can cause permanent damage that is not covered under warranty. Contact Aprés Customer Service or an Aprés Authorized Repair Center for next steps.

Q: The fan, sound, or light won't turn back on after I turned it off.

A: These features have quick toggle shortcuts, so you may have accidentally triggered one. Repeating the same 5-second button hold toggles it back on: MODE + 30s for fan, MODE + 60s for sound, MODE + 90s for light. If that doesn't work, try a full factory reset (60s + 90s for 5 seconds).

Q: Can I open or repair the lamp myself?

A: No. Do not modify or disassemble the Nova LED Lamp without professional personnel. Doing so can be dangerous and will void your warranty. Please contact Aprés Customer Service or an Aprés Authorized Repair Center for any malfunction.

Q: The battery doesn't seem to be holding a charge like it used to.

A: We recommend charging your Nova whenever it drops to 1 bar (25%) rather than waiting for it to fully die — this helps preserve long-term battery health. Also make sure you're unplugging the lamp once it's fully charged, since leaving it plugged in afterward can affect battery life over time. The battery is rated for about 300 charge cycles (roughly one year of typical use), so if your lamp is older than that, some capacity loss is expected and normal.

Q: My display or timer looks wrong.

A: Try a factory reset: press and hold the 60s and 90s buttons together for 5 seconds. This clears any stuck settings and restores the lamp to its original factory settings.

Safety & Care Reminders

  • Keep the lamp away from children
  • Do not allow liquids of any kind into the unit
  • Do not modify or disassemble the device
  • Only use the original charger adapter — never a substitute
  • Unplug after each full charge to protect long-term battery health

Please avoid these — they can cause permanent damage and aren't covered under warranty: getting liquid inside the lamp, charging with a power adapter other than the one included, and attempting to open, modify, or repair the lamp yourself.

 Aprés E-File

Getting Started

Q: What is included with the Aprés E-File?

A: The E-File machine, a handpiece with cord, and a power adapter. The handpiece rests in the machine's built-in handpiece cup and hook when not in use.

Q: What are the main parts of the E-File?

  • 1. Motor Connector — where the handpiece cord plugs in
  • 2. Forward/Reverse Selector
  • 3. ON/OFF/Speed Control Knob
  • 4.Pause Button
  • 5. LED display — shows speed (RPM) and battery level
  • 6. Power plug-in shelf
  • 7. Handpiece Cup
  • 8. Hook — for hanging the handpiece cord

Assembly & Setup

Q: How do I power on and charge the handpiece?

A: Connect the included 15V 1.6A AC adapter to the E-File machine to power the handpiece. While charging, the battery indicator on the LED screen will flash. Once the battery is fully charged, the indicator stops flashing.

Q: How do I connect the handpiece to the machine?

A: Plug the handpiece cord into the Motor Connector (labeled 1 on the machine).

Using the E-File

Q: How do I change the direction the bit spins?

A: Press the Forward/Reverse hexagon button on top of the handpiece to switch rotation direction. Wait a full 5 seconds after switching before using the e-file — this gives the motor time to change direction safely. Avoid repeatedly pressing the button in quick succession, as this can trigger the fault protection.

Q: How do I turn the machine on and adjust the speed?

A: Use the ON/OFF/Speed Control Knob (labeled 3) to power the unit on and off and to control the speed.

Q: How can I check the battery level or current speed?

A: Check the LED display (labeled 4) on the machine — it shows the current speed (RPM) and battery level.

Q: Where do I store the handpiece when I'm not using it?

A: Rest the handpiece in the Handpiece Cup (labeled 6) and route the cord through the Hook (labeled 7) to keep your station tidy between uses.

Q: The handpiece feels like it's straining or running slow.

A: This is often caused by inserting a grinding bit too tightly. Leave a small gap between the bit and the handpiece opening so it doesn't run under resistance.

Battery Care

Q: How long can I charge the E-File at one time?

A: Do not charge the unit consecutively for more than 12 hours.

Q: Where should I charge my E-File?

A: Avoid charging in a place that is too hot or too cold — extreme temperatures can affect battery performance and lifespan.

Q: Should I leave the E-File on when I'm not using it?

A: No — turn the E-File off when you won't be using it for long periods to help preserve battery life.

Q: How long is the E-File's battery designed to last?

A: Battery life is rated for approximately 3 years, or around 1,000 charge cycles, under normal use.

Troubleshooting

Q: My e-file won't turn on.

  • Make sure the handpiece is fully connected to the Motor Connector port
  • Confirm it's charging with the included 15V 1.6A AC adapter
  • If the battery was fully drained, allow it to charge for 10–15 minutes before trying to power on again — the device automatically shuts off when the battery is too low and needs a short charge before it will turn back on

Q: The battery indicator won't stop flashing — is that normal?

A: A flashing battery indicator means the unit is still charging. It will stop flashing once the battery reaches a full charge. If it continues flashing well beyond the normal charge time, try a different outlet and confirm the adapter is fully connected.

Q: The screen shows "EI" and the handpiece stopped, and I hear a ticking noise.

A: This isn't a malfunction — it's a built-in safety feature indicating the spindle is unlocked. To fix it: twist the spindle to the right to lock it, then rotate the ON/OFF knob to restart the machine.

Q: The handpiece isn't spinning or turning on.

  • Confirm the handpiece cord is fully plugged into the Motor Connector
  • Check the LED display for battery level and charge the unit if needed
  • Make sure the ON/OFF/Speed Control Knob is turned to an active speed setting

Q: The direction (forward/reverse) isn't switching.

A: Press the Forward/Reverse hexagon button on top of the handpiece. Wait a full 5 seconds after switching before using the e-file, and avoid pressing the button repeatedly in quick succession, as this can trigger the fault protection.

Q: My battery life seems shorter than it used to be.

A: Battery performance can be affected by charging habits. Avoid charging over 12 hours at a time, avoid extreme temperatures while charging, and turn the unit off when not in use for extended periods. Battery life is rated for approximately 3 years (about 1,000 charge cycles) under normal use — if you're well within that range and still experiencing issues, contact Aprés Customer Service.

Safety & Care Reminders

  • Do not allow liquids of any kind into the e-file or handpiece
  • Only use the original charger adapter — never a substitute
  • Do not modify or disassemble the device or handpiece yourself
  • Avoid dropping, hitting, or applying high-impact pressure to the control box

Please avoid these — they can cause permanent damage and aren't covered under warranty: getting liquid inside the e-file or handpiece, charging with any adapter other than the one included, modifying or disassembling the device or handpiece yourself, and dropping, hitting, or applying high-impact pressure to the control box.
